"Dance!" -Jeremiah 31:13

Dance and be glad, your mourning will turn to gladness, comfort and joy instead of sorrow.
Prophetic art is all new to me. I've come to understand it is a beautiful expression of worship inspired by the Holy Spirit. This form of worship is much like music worship. I'll go into this idea in a later blog. Basically, it is a visual response to what I sense God is doing "in the moment".

A bit about me. I've been drawing and painting most of my life. I graduated the Hartford Art School in 93' where I studied Illustration and Design. However, I've not been actively drawing in nearly 15years. My job at Technivision keeps me very creative. But this is commercial art, like logos and websites design. My personal spiritual journey seemed to be separate from my artistic talents for years. I never even thought about using my art as a form of worship. Nor would I have felt Church was an appropriate place to draw or paint. In addition to those feelings, I don't think I even heard the phrase "prophetic art" until recently.

I remember the day I did my first drawing during a church service. It was the first day of service in the newly constructed sanctuary at The River of Life church in Tolland, CT. It was a significant experience because the Holy Spirit wasted no time speaking to me. I felt it was something I had to do. I was very inspired and motivated to get some basic art supplies and a small drawing pad and bring it to the service. I sat in the back, the very back, of the church with my wife and kids. My wife is also a talented artist. She is an art teacher in Columbia middle school. We were both very excited to see what God would do through us if we just showed up ready to create.

This blog will document the unfolding story of my personal journey into the discovery and healing power of prophetic art. More to come!
